Woodstock Inline Hockey School League (Years 4-6) - 2016

This year we would like to enter a team into the Hamilton School’s Inline Hockey Competition.   This is held at the Hamilton Inline Skating Club at the Eastlink Sports Centre and involves the children playing on roller blades, using a puck and hockey stick.  Players are required to wear a bicycle helmet, mouth guard and a pair of roller blades to participate.  Roller blades are available at no cost from the rink and some caged helmets and sticks are provided at the rink, but these will be in limited supply.  Players are encouraged to purchase their own equipment. Teams will have 4 players on the floor at all times.  We require 12 children to make up our team. Teams will play a minimum of one game per evening (unless the draw allows for a bye).  Games are played on Wednesdays and are played between the hours of 3.50pm - 8.30pm.  Exact times are dependent on the number of teams entered. The draw will be structured to ensure that each team has different game times each week.

We have been advised that the season will begin on Wednesday 17th February and will finish at the end of term 1.

If your child is interested in playing Inline Hockey for Woodstock School please fill in the following details. THE SCHOOL IS REQUIRED TO ENTER THE TEAMS BY MID-DAY Thursday 11th  February, so please return the forms to school ASAP,  or alternatively email Rachael Tangney @ rachaelt@woodstock.school.nz , by Tuesday 9th February.   As you can appreciate, organising teams is a time consuming job, and it is most frustrating when children pull out once the teams have been organised, so please ensure you have discussed with your child that this is a commitment that involves weekly practises and a game every Wednesday night.

As with all our sports we rely heavily on volunteers for the role of coach and manager. Your assistance and time is greatly appreciated. I am able to coach the team, but would require a committed manager/s to help out, especially if games were early on Wednesday afternoons, as I have staff meeting commitments until 5pm on Wednesdays.  Unfortunately, if we have no volunteers to help manage we will be unable to register the team.  If emailing me, please include this information in your message.
