Rimu Scooter Info

On Wednesday 29th of February, Rooms 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be having our annual Tryathlon afternoon. (More information about this will follow at a later date).

During this event, the children will be scootering around the court area. Building up to this day, we would like to provide the children with the opportunity to practise their scootering skills.

To support the children with this, we plan to have time during our weekly Friday Discovery time, for the children to bring their own scooters to school and practice.

The days we plan to have scootering are:
• Friday 10th February
• Friday 17th February
• Friday 24th February

To do this, the children would need to bring their safety gear to wear while scootering. If the children do not have their safety gear, they will not be allowed to practice.

Scooters would be kept in your child’s classroom in an area where others could not touch them.

In accordance with school rules, the scooters would have to be wheeled, not ridden, within the school grounds when arriving to and leaving school.

The only time the children would be permitted to ride the scooters would be after lunch, under teacher supervision.

There will be one or two scooters available for those children who do not have access to scooters at home, but would like to have a go before our Tryathlon day. The teachers will assist the children with this.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to make contact with your child’s teacher.

Thank you for your support,

Rachael Tangney, Susan Johnson, Megan Leitch, Julia Turner, Bronwyn Nicholas

Mathletics Information

Mathletics is a programme we have been offering to Woodstock School students for just over a year now. This programme supports the Mathematics that your child’s teacher is teaching in the classroom.

Every child at Woodstock School can purchase Mathletics.

This programme can be used in a number of ways;
1. As Mathematics homework (Each syndicate newsletter will inform you of the topics they are covering in the term, use this as a guide). It is recommended that they should spend 20 minutes on the programme at least 3 times a week.

2. Your child will be given opportunities to use Mathletics in the classroom if they have their username and passwords available, ie. In their homework books or memorised.

Benefits of the programme are;
• It helps students enjoy and achieve outstanding results
• It is a supportive resource and learning tool for all students
• It is a competitive and challenging experience
• It covers all aspects of maths
• It responds to students weaknesses and strengths
• It has step by step animations to help and support students
• Weekly reports are emailed to parents/caregivers
• Students instantly know if they are on the right track or not
• It is the World’s most used maths website

The cost is;
$30 per child.  (It normally costs a parent $99 if purchasing independently.) This gives your child access to Mathletics until 31st January 2013.

If you are interested in purchasing Mathletics for your child, please fill in the attached form
