Flipper Ball

A copy of the Flipper Notice that has gone homen recently...

Dear Parents/CaregiversYour child has expressed an interest in playing Flipper Ball for Woodstock School. Flipper Ball is  basically water polo played in shallower water.
Last term we entered a team into the Te Rapa Flipper Ball competition. This team were very successful.  We are now looking at adding in another team for the Term 3 competition.

Games are played every Sunday afternoon at various times between 2-5pm. The competition starts on Sunday 11th August until Sunday 29th September. Dates and times are approximate and are subject to change, by the organisers, depending upon entries.

As part of the programme school teams will get the opportunity to do some deep water skills (in the dive pool) with the Shark Attack Aquatics Ltd team.

All equipment is supplied – players only need suitable swimming costumes and a cap (if preferred, as all flipper ball caps are shared amongst all participants).

Fees for the term will be between $30-$40. Players will be invoiced once the fees have been confirmed.

Any queries, please contact me and I will try my best to answer them.

Regards
Maree Lewis

New Zealand Playhouse

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Our school’s curriculum focus for Term 3 is based around The Arts. This can involve one or more of the following disciplines -Drama, Music, Visual Art and Dance.

To prepare and support the students with their learning around The Arts we have booked New Zealand Playhouse to perform to our students early Term 3. The name of the presentation is ‘The Big Sad Wolf’. Through this performance, teachers will be able to discuss with their classes many elements of the presentation and incorporate some aspects into their own Arts learning.

NZ Playhouse will be performing to the school on Friday 16th August. The performance is only available for students enrolled at Woodstock School. The cost of the show is $4.50 per pupil or $9.00 for two or more siblings. Sorry this is not for pre-schoolers.

Please return the slip below and payment in a named envelope by Wednesday 14th August.

Yours sincerely,

Nicole Glover
Teacher in charge of The Arts

FONTERRA MILK FOR SCHOOLS PROGRAMME

Our school has been invited to join the Fonterra Milk for Schools programme.  Fonterra Milk for the Schools will;

  • Deliver Year 1-6 children a pack of Anchor Lite UHT milk (we have chosen two days initially; Tuesdays and Thursdays).
  • Supply two free fridges to chill the milk for serving.
  • Collect used packaging for recycling.
We will start the programme during the first week after the holidays (week beginning 29th July)

Fonterra Milk for Schools is all about growing healthy kids and milk contains essential nutrients for growth & development.  The natural nutrition of milk gives kids calcium for building bones and nutrients they need for sustained energy, concentration and learning in the classroom. If you would like more information about the programme visit www.fonterramilkforschools.com

Participation in the programme is entirely voluntary – both for school and students. At their last meeting the Board of Trustees accepted Fonterra’s offer to join the programme.

Please complete and return the permission slip below so we know how many children to cater for.  A list of participates will be kept in each child’s classroom.
