Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We are planning to have a working bee on the afternoon of Saturday 9 May. We have a variety of projects that we would like to undertake on this day to help with our elective and Enviro-school projects. If you are able to provide either a skill in a particular area, supply some materials that we need or are willing to come along and help out wherever, we would extremely grateful!

 We are planning to;
  • Tidy and weed gardens around the school.
  • Dig out a garden
  • Re-paint seating around the school and boards around the CE Unit
  • Repaint games on concrete and prime seats around the trees
  • Clear and tidy area along boundary fences
  • Move our chicken coop
  • Clean out worm bins and compost bins
  • Tidy up area around our veggie garden and our school orchard
  • Extend the veggie garden fencing
We need;
  • “Painters” to help with painting new games on our asphalt and repainting our seats around the school.
  • “Builders” to repair our picnic tables and extend our veggie garden fencing.
  • “Gardeners” to help with weeding and tidying up our gardens and grounds.
  • “Labourers” to help out where necessary.
We would like;
  • Sources or contacts for either free or cheap bright paint suitable for concrete and outdoor use and wood, wire for our fencing project
  • To borrow wheelbarrows, gardening tools and paint brushes on the day.
Please fill in the slip below and return to school by Tuesday 5 May if you are able to help out.
We appreciate your time and support.

Waitomo Caves Trip

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Thank you to all those people who returned the feedback form last term about our proposed trip to the Waitomo Caves. A large majority indicated that you would be happy to go ahead and pay the full price of $30.80per child for the Waitomo Caves trip. So we are glad to announce that the trip will be going ahead without the need for any fundraising efforts.
Details of the trip:

Date: Thursday 14th May (week 4)

Time of departure from school by bus: 8.30am (this time is before the normal school bell, therefore all children will need to be at school by 8.15am on the day, so the roll can be called before departure).

Expected time of return back to school: 3.00pm (again, this is after the normal school bell time. Children will not be released to go home after the trip unless a parent/guardian is present to pick them up).

Please fill in the attached permission slip and return to the office in a named envelope with your child’s full payment of $30.80. If paying the full price is a concern for you, you may be able to make arrangements with the office. Please bring your child’s permission slip in and speak with the ladies in the office about this.

Parent Helpers on the day:
We will require six parent helpers from each classroom to support us on the day. If you are interested in coming along on the trip please indicate this on the form below. Please remember that all parent helpers will be required to pay $10pp for their entry to the caves. Do not include this money with your child’s payment, as parent helpers have not yet been selected. Names will be collected and drawn out of a hat to make it fair to all parents who wish to come along. More information about this will come closer to the time. Please note that if you are planning on putting your name forward to be a parent helper, no pre-schoolers, siblings or animals are able to come on the trip.

If you have any queries about the trip please feel free to contact us at school.
Kind regards,
Kirsty Cathcart, Leigh Phipps and Danni Macpherson

Please complete this form and return to the office in a named envelope with your child’s payment of $30.80 enclosed. Return no later than Thursday 7th May.

I give permission for _________________________ from Room  _____  to attend the Waitomo Caves fieldtrip on Thursday 14th May 2015. Enclosed is $30:80.
