Important information for Out of Zone Enrolments

The Woodstock Board of Trustees invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their children at Woodstock School for the period
20 July to 17 December, 2015.

Enrolment at the school is governed by an Enrolment Scheme, details of which are available from the school office (this includes a description of the Home Zone)

The Board has determined that a total of 20 places are likely to be available for Out of Home Zone students during this period.

The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s enrolment zone.

Application forms are available from the school office ph (07) 855 6686,
 fax (07) 8537056, email frontoffice@woodstock.school.nz

The deadline for receipt of application for Out of Home Zone places is
4pm Friday 8th May, 2015.

Parents who live within the home zone and who intend enrolling their child at any time should notify the school by Friday 8th May, 2015 to assist the school in planning appropriately for this period. Students in the home zone are entitled to enrol at the school.

If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot (except in the case of special programmes, where the criteria in the enrolment scheme apply).

If a ballot for out of zone places is required, it will be held on
Tuesday 12th May, 2015. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

Q&A - Where can I register for the Woodstock Colour Run?
You can register online www.squiggle.org.nz or come on Saturday 21st March 2015 and register at 9am. CASH ONLY.
Q&A - What is a colour run?
A 2km fun run around the Claudelands Park and while you're running, walking, skipping or strolling you'll be sprinkled with coloured powder along the way!
Q&A - Is the coloured powder safe?
Yes! It's coloured cornstarch that is non-toxic and non-staining. It's shipped from India is the Holi powder used for many celebrations.
Q&A - What shall I wear?
Wear comfy clothes and running/walking shoes. White t-shirts are great, so you can see all of the cool colours. Don't wear anything that you wouldn't want to get dirty!
Q&A - Who can register?
Everyone and everyone!!! No age restrictions!! Parents will need to be responsible for their tamariki/children. The run course is ideal for prams and wheelchairs too - however you may want to use a cover for prams if you want to avoid coloured dust getting inside your buggy.
Q&A - What time does it start?
You can collect your rego packs on Saturday 21st March between 9am and 9.50am. Race debrief is at 9.50am and the fun begins at 10.00am. We should be done and dusted (literally!!) by 11.00am.
Q&A - Where can I park?
Claudelands Park (Hamilton) is on the corner of Boundary Rd and Heaphy Tce - right next to the Claudelands Event Centre. There is heaps of street parking around the park.
Q&A - Why is the registration so affordable compared to other colour runs?
It's our school "fun"raiser - and we want as many people as possible to enter! Registration packs include 2 x packets of coloured powder and race number. Fun and laughter are free of charge!!
Q&A - Where do we run/walk/skip/jog?
The course is around the Claudelands Park and through the ngahere (bush). There is no running on roads or bridges - everything will start and finish at the park!
Q&A - Will the colour powder ruin my hair?
It will normally dust out (eventually!) however it does tend to stick to blonde coloured hair - so best to oil your hair (e.g. coco-nut oil) or wear a hat during the race.
Q&A - Is the powder harmful to breathe or if it gets in my eyes?
We will encourage people not to aim the powder at faces or if you do want your face covered with powder, close your eyes and don't inhale. Even though it's colour cornstarch, it's still not something you want to eat or rub into your eyes. Bring sunnies and/or a bandanna if you're extra concerned.
Q&A - Can I take photos?
Of course - take heaps - but perhaps wrap your phone in gladwrap or put it inside a snaplock plastic bag to give it some extra protection.
