Waitomo Caves Trip (Rooms 7, 8 and 9)

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Below are important details about our field trip to the Waitomo Caves this week, Thursday 14^th May. Please read through carefully with your child and ensure they are prepared and bring all the necessary items with them on the day.

Time of departure:

We are scheduled to leave Woodstock School NO LATER than 8.30am on the morning of the trip. Please ensure your child is at school well before the bell, by 8.15am. Any children, who arrive late after 8.30am, will unfortunately be left behind and will have to stay at school for the day.

Time of arrival back at School:

We are aiming to be back at school just after the 2.45pm bell. There is always a chance that trips can run slightly late, so please wait outside your child’s classroom for us to return. If we are running late, we shouldn’t be too far away. When the bus arrives back at Woodstock School all the children will head back to their classrooms to be released once a parent/caregiver is present to take them home.

What to bring:

·           Warm Clothing (the caves are underground so they do get quite cold)

·           A rain jacket if you have one

·           Appropriate enclosed Footwear for walking e.g. sneakers

·           A packed morning tea and lunch

      NOTE: There is no canteen facilities available on this trip. Please ensure your

      child has plenty to eat. No lunch orders should be made through the school

      also.

·           A drink bottle (labelled with your child’s name)

·           School bag

Your child will not need to bring their book-bag with them to school on this day.

Postponement due to Wet Weather:

If the trip has to be postponed due to wet weather, this call will be made the day before the trip and you will all be notified. At this stage there is no postponement date set, however this would be arranged if needed.
