Y5/6 Action Station’s Camp: Tauranga/Mount Maunganui 24-26 March  2015

Dear Parents/Caregivers, and Whanau,

Welcome to our Y5/6 Camp for 2015!

For this camp, as part of our EOTC/ Health and PE programmes, we continue to work in partnership with the qualified instructors from Action Stations and Waimarino, based in Tauranga.

This camp will be a one-night camp. Camp 1 will operate from 24 March-25 March  2015; Camp 2 will operate from 25 March-26 March 2015. A parent information meeting will be held in Week 4 Term 1 2015.

Our exciting Camp Activities will include the following:

Day 1:

Summit Scramble – a climb up Mount Maunganui, where we hear some of the history and Maori Legends associated with this ancient volcano

Team-Building Activities and Bird Study around the Mount, and a swim at the end of the day in the Mount Hot Pools

Day 2:

Waimarino  Adventure – where we learn kayaking skills, and use the water slide, balancing trail, the ‘Blob’, and the warm pool.

We are very safety-conscious with these activities, and we will operate with a ratio of 1:5 adult/child ratio, excluding teachers.

ALL Y5/6 students are expected to attend this camp. Accommodation is at Pacific Park Camp in Papamoa.

The cost of the camp is $120.00 per student. We have sent this newsletter to you early, so that if you need to, you can make payment arrangements with the school office.  Please make payment of camp fees to the school office at your earliest convenience.

We require parents to stay overnight, assist with camp, and to provide transport to and from camp. We also require one trailer per camp please.  If you can support us in any of the ways listed above, please fill in the form below.  We emphasise that you must have a current licence and WOF on your vehicle.
