Mia Performs
On Friday at the School Assembly, we were treated to a LIVE performance from Mia Downing . ..  ‘The One’.  An amazingly talented young lady.  Thank you Mia.

Book Fair Bonanza!!
Thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair Week.  We had many people purchase books, lots of super prizes handed out at assembly and . . . a WONDERFUL dress up day on Friday.  Clifford the Big Red Dog even came for a surprise visit!!

Through the wonderful Woodstock School community support, we have $700 worth of brand new books donated to our library from Scholastic.  Children and teachers chose the titles that we will be able to enjoy.  Thank you Scholastic!!  They also provided us with $150 worth of spot prizes.

Happy reading everyone!!

Woodstock School Sport Coaches & Managers
A special and huge thank you to all coaches and managers who have ensured that our school teams are organised, managed and coached over the summer and winter months. Without you, our children would not be able to take part, compete and have fun.  Well done everyone involved and thanks on behalf of all children.

Pohutukawa and Kauri Athletics Results 2013
On November 13th Years 4-6 Woodstock School children were involved in our annual athletics.  We were very fortunate to have great weather!  It was fantastic to see all children participate with lots of enthusiasm and pushing themselves to achieve their personal goals.

Congratulations to all the students.  The following students whose names are highlighted will be attending the cluster athletics at Southwell School on November 26th. Thank you to all the teachers, parents and whanau who helped out with this day.  Without you we wouldn’t have been able to have such a successful day!

A big thank you to WEL Energy Trust who granted us $2000 last year towards a wireless projector system for our hall. It is about to be installed!

Buddy Day
I have attached a few photos of me and my buddy, Alfie Bells (R6 Woodstock School) for Buddy Day on Friday. I work as a Postie and he went around in the back of my bike while I delivered mail on my run in Rototuna.  I was able to get 34 people to sign his 'buddy diary'.
Cheers
Malcolm

SUNSAFE POLICY: In accordance with our school’s sun safe policy
ALL children MUST wear a hat with a brim whenever they are outside after Labour Weekend. Hats can be purchased from the school office. Please name your child’s hat. Children without a hat MUST sit under the large trees by the courts — not ideal for our active young students. So please make sure they bring their hats each day. Sunblock is best applied before your child leaves the house. If your child brings sunblock to school they are encouraged to not share it.

Please note: Teachers are unable to apply sun block to students.

Scholastic Book Club:  The last offer of the year has been sent home. Books make great Christmas presents.   Please note the cut off for this is 28 November and all orders should be sent to the school office on or before this date.  Please make cheques payable to Scholastic NZ.

Yummy Apple Stickers:  Thanks to all those who collected the stickers, the school has received $376 to spend on sports equipment.  Please continue to collect stickers and panels for next years competition.

Smart Water starts with you!-Alert Level 1
Everyone in Hamilton, Waikato and Waipa districts are being asked to limit the use of their sprinklers because we are going to Water Alert Level 1 today.

Water Alert Level 1 means residents can use their sprinklers only between 6-8am and 6-8pm but they can use hand-held hoses at any time.

Alert Level 1 has been put in place at this early stage because the demand for water is a lot higher than what is usually expected for November even with the rainfall on Tuesday.

In Hamilton for example at this time of year, the long term average daily water use is around 53 million litres. On Monday this week, Hamilton used 72.9 million litres – the fifth highest consumption day that we’ve experienced over the last 13 years during the month of November! Waikato and Waipa water demand is also high. This puts pressure not just on people, but also all the plants and animals in rivers, streams and springs that rely on a certain level of water for their survival.

Being smart with water is often only thought about in the summer months but it is really important that people are smart with their water all year round including summer.

Everyone has a part to play on conserving water now and in the future. Making small changes, such as limiting the use of your sprinkler in your garden or fixing a leaking tap, can have a positive impact on decreasing water demand.

We are all in this together, so lets be smart with our water now and for future generations.
