Kapahaka Information



We would like to welcome Whaea Penny, Whaea Troy and HakaHiva Pacific Island Dance Company (https://www.facebook.com/haka.hiva) to Woodstock School. Whaea Penny and Whaea Troy are our new tutors for Kapa Haka. We are excited to have them as part of our kura and to have them share their knowledge and skills with our students.

Whaea Penny Grey (Director/Owner of HakaHiva Ltd)
Of Niuean/Pakeha decent, has lived in Waikato for the last 25years, Mother of 2 children, from a teaching background, has been working within Waikato schools for the last 6 years with Pasifika and Kapahaka groups. 

Whaea Troy Colins (Lead Kapahaka Tutor)
From the Wairarapa, mother of 6, from a performing arts background. Has been involved with HakaHiva Ltd over the past 3-4 years and loves working with all the children we meet.

We are passionate about 'keeping culture alive' in our schools and communities through Kapahaka and Pasifika groups. We are looking forward to being part of the Woodstock School community through Kapahaka this year. Feel free to say hi and introduce yourselves to us.
